“Nicholas Angelich offered a long, irresistible piano and spiritual build-up that many of his peers would envy…” (Classiqueinfo.com)
Nicholas Angelich, whose passport is American, but who has lived in France for many years, is universally renowned as one of the great “thinkers” of the piano today. An immensely talented interpreter of the classical and romantic repertories, he made a breathtaking debut in 1999 when he made a last-minute replacement for Martha Argerich at Roque-d’Anthéron, Compared to Claudio Arrau, Radu Lupu or, sometimes, to his mentor, Aldo Ciccolini, Nicholas Angelich is a formidable piano player who impresses by his extreme concentration and the depth of emotion produced. Everything is present: power and dreaminess, murmurs and conviction... Lately, Nicholas Angelich has developed a passion for the music of Johann Sebastian Bach. It is in this baroque repertory that he will perform for his first appearance at the Festival of Colmar.
