Vladimir Spikakov

1944

Born in Oufa, in the province of Bachkirie, formerly part of the Soviet Union, in a family of musicians.

1967

Prize-winner in the Genes Paganini Competition.

1969

First Prize in the Montreal International

1970

Second Prize in the Moscow Tchaikovsky Competition

1976

Began as a conductor with the Chicago Symphonic Orchestra.

1979

Creation of his own orchestra The Moscow Virtuosos, bringing together international prize winners and leading musicians from the great formations of the Soviet Union.

1989

Creation of the International Festival of Colmar with Vladimir Spivakov as artistic director.

Since

1990

Member of the jury for major international violin competitions.

1994

Creation of his own Charity Foundation to provide assistance to young talented musicians by adopting both a humanitarian and artistic approach.


Since

1995

Chairman of the Pablo Sarate International Violin Competition.

1999

On 11 Julythe Minister of Culture and Communication, Mrs. Catherine TRAUTMANN, awarded him, in the framework of the International Festival, the title of "Officier dans l\'Ordre des Arts et des Lettres" (Officer in the Order of Arts and Letters).

2000

Spivakov was awarded the title of Chevalier de la Légion d\'honneur.

2003

Becomes artistic director and principal conductor of the National Philharmonic Orchestra of Russia.
