Julien Beautemps and Sotiris Athanasiou are festival regulars! They thrilled audiences in Colmar during their solo concerts in 2023 and 2024. This summer, they are back, but as a duo!
These two virtuosos – members of the Duo Argos – combine humour with dazzling performances of masterpieces through arrangements of astonishing inventiveness. Julien Beautemps' flamboyant accordion and Sotiris Athanasiou's inspired guitar transcend genres and eras, and both are also the authors of the arrangements of some of the pieces performed this afternoon.
From La Flûte enchantée miniature to Boléro arranged by Julien Beautemps himself; from the midnight blue fever of Rhapsody in Blue to the lyricism of Epitafios or the intoxication of Libertango, each arrangement opens up a new world.
A kaleidoscopic programme, bold and jubilant, where the elegance of classical music dialogues with the energy of jazz and world music.
