Léontine Maridat-Zimmerlin, Mezzo-soprano

At 26, French mezzo-soprano Léontine Maridat-Zimmerlin captivates audiences with her radiant presence, warm tone and genuine sense of phrasing. After eleven years of training at the Maîtrise de Paris and then at the Sorbonne, she honed her art at the Lyon Conservatoire before joining the Paris Conservatoire, where she obtained a master's degree in 2025.

Her personality was recognised early on in competitions: she won three prizes at the Concours international de mélodie de Gordes (2022), then in Paris, the Concours Georges Enesco (2023) awarded her the Prix Génération Opéra and the Grand Prix de la musique contemporaine, with an invitation to the Gala des Jeunes Ambassadeurs Lyriques de Montréal. In the same year, she also received the French Repertoire Prize at the Raymond Duffaut Young Opera Hopefuls Competition.

On stage, she played Oreste in La Belle Hélène, the Second Lady in The Magic Flute at the CNSMDL, then Cherubino in 2025 in a production by Mariame Clément, co-produced with the Philharmonie de Paris. She will also perform in Gluck's L'Ile de Merlin alongside the academicians of the Opéra Comique de Paris in June 2025 (La Candeur, Hippocratine, La Notaire).

A lover of chamber music, Léontine will perform in 2025 at the Amphitheatre of the Seville Opera in a recital of English melodies alongside Carmen Martinez-Pierret (piano) and Israel Fausto-Martinez (cello), and in various programmes throughout France (Lussan, Bressuire, Vançais, Saint-Jean d'Angély, Château de Parentignat...) alongside up-and-coming artists of her generation such as Ayano Kamei, Félix Merle, Louis Dechambre and Felix Moussiegt.

Her duo with pianist Louis Dechambre won the Duo Prize at the Clermont-Ferrand International Competition. A few months later, she also won the Grand Prize for voice and piano duos at the Nadia and Lili Boulanger International Competition with pianist Ayano Kamei.

After a season at the Académie Favart de l'Opéra Comique, the 25/26 season promises to be a busy one, with opera and recitals: Diane in Iphigénie en Tauride (Opéra-Comique), Stéphano (Théâtre des Champs-Élysées), Mercedes (Capitole de Toulouse), Marceline (Pistoia), recitals at Les Invalides and the Opéra de Clermont-Auvergne. Selected for Génération Opéra 2025-2026, named Adami Artist 2025, member of the Académie Jaroussky, Léontine is represented by the Do Opéra agency and supported by the SIAA Foundation.
