Duo Gambelin,
Two instruments that have never met before: the bass clarinet/soprano saxophone and the viola da gamba. Two musical styles separated by three centuries of music history: Renaissance or Baroque music meets jazz and modernity.
Christian Elin and Lucile Boulanger do not stop at a juxtaposition of these styles when they meet; something completely new emerges from their music: a concert like an aspiration, an immersion in a world of sound that can no longer be adequately described in terms of styles. Above all, Christian Elin's compositions, created especially for this duo, draw on all the surprising similarities between Baroque and jazz music: harmonic patterns, freedom of improvisation, swing and irregularity, playing with harmonics. Thus, the audience experiences the music of the great masters of the Renaissance and Baroque viola in a completely new way: a concert like a film that makes you forget the passage of time.
